Moving Toward Energy Independence
We need to end our dependence on foreign oil and focus on investing in domestic sources of energy, because energy is a serious national security issue. Louisiana has some of the richest oil and natural gas deposits in the world—that’s why we need to invest in technology to tap into these resources. Developing Louisiana oil and natural gas will create jobs here at home and make our nation more secure. I’ve worked hard in Congress to promote the development of Louisiana oil and natural gas, passing key legislation to ensure that Louisiana receives its fair share of revenue from offshore oil and natural gas produced off its coast. As Senator, I’ll keep fighting to protect and expand this important part of Louisiana’s economy—no matter what the politicians in Washington say.
